Mission Statement

Dare to Care equips and mobilizes entire communities with the skills and courage to prevent bullying so ALL children and youth can thrive in life, learning, and play.

About This Cause

Dare to Care was founded in 1999 because of a need to address the pervasive and crippling issue of bullying and mental health that continues to affect children, youth, and adults to this day. Dare to Care was created with the understanding that bullying and mental health issues are societal issues. If we are to have any impact at all, ALL stake-holders within a school or sporting community must be involved in creating a climate of change. Dare to Care has 3 flagship programs: 1) Innovative and age appropriate workshops for students and athletes/teams 2) Information sessions for parents 3) Extensive professional development for teachers, coaches support staff, and administration. By providing the tools and support that help children and adults recognize the signs of bullying, Dare to Care has helped with the early prevention and intervention of mental health issues as well as mobilized entire communities into action. Recently, Dare to Care has expanded into sporting organizations, community groups, and the workplace. In 2020, in response to COVID-19, Dare to Care lifted and shifted our 'in-person' program to an on-line program. Dare to Care is the recipient of the Imagine Canada Award for Community Partnership and the winner of the Government of Alberta Inspiration Award for Leadership in Bully Prevention.
