About This Cause
Data for Good is the Canadian voice for data scientists with a conscience. If you have a desire to stay at the forefront of technological innovation and positive social change, join us. Data for Good brings together leading data scientists with high impact social purpose organizations through a comprehensive, collaborative approach that leads to shared insights, greater understanding, and positive action through "data in the service of humanity". We exist to empower the world’s social change makers by making their data speak to them more clearly, thus allowing them to do what they do best, even better. Data for Good was founded in 2013 by Joy Robson and Victor Anjos. Both Joy and Victor knew there was a passionate core of Canadians in and outside of the field of data science. Talented people who wanted to make a difference in their communities and were looking for ways to give back -- simply lacking a forum to do so. What started off as one outpost in Toronto, ON has grown into a Canadian National Not-For-Profit social purpose organization with nine (9) chapters: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Waterloo Region, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and most recently, the Maritime Region.
