Mission Statement

To provide medical equipment and daily living aids that enhance quality of life, supporting mobility, independence, and dignity.

About This Cause

The Lending Cupboard (TLC) is a registered charity that lends medical equipment to the people of Central Alberta. They receive support from a variety of service clubs and private donations. TLC also relies on other private and government grants to cover its operating budget. With an inventory of more than 15,000 items, in 2022, TLC processed 29,618 pieces of equipment for 11,637 clients. The equipment being lent out each month is used for situations of extreme sports injuries, those recovering from illness or surgery, end-of-life care, children, youth and adults, senior citizens, and Total Joint Arthroplasty (TJA) - typically hip or knee replacement. Equipment available through The Lending Cupboard includes air casts, bed rails, bath chairs, bath lifts, commodes, toilet risers, crutches and canes, hydraulic lifts, toilet safety rails, transport chairs, walkers, wheelchairs, super poles and Roho cushions, and other specialized pieces. TLC has very high standards for infection prevention and quality control of all equipment. When equipment can no longer meet those standards, it is properly recycled, limiting the use of landfill.
