About This Cause
Seniors and Physically Disabled Monthly Food Hampers : in September we were serving over 3475 seniors/disabled. With the rising need of food, who are being given essential groceries free every month. We are pioneering the delivery of fresh fruits and produce to seniors and disabled. Our current distribution numbers are Region of Peel: Mississauga (517); Brampton (695); Caledon (45) Toronto Region: Scarborough (265); Toronto (300); Etobicoke (150); North York (205) York Region: Richmond Hill (118); Newmarket (110); Vaughan (85); Stoufville (9); Markham (4); Georgina (40); +Adding 4 senior buildings Hamilton Region: Hamilton + Stoney Creek (98); +Adding 2 senior buildings expected 300 intake, a total of 13 Senior buildings are in process. Durham Region: Ajax (9); Pickering (5); Oshawa (10) London Ontario: (10) Vaughan EDC 640 food packs , church in north york 165 refugee Homeless Support: 4000 Homeless fed a warm meal along with fresh produce, Yogurt, snacks, and beverages every weekend. Program runs in 6 cities across the GTHA Region; Branford, Hamilton, Guelph, Cambridge, Brampton, Toronto. Children's Breakfast Program: Over 5000 breakfasts are served every week! We serve children from low income families who would otherwise come hungry to school. These children can focus on learning because of the breakfasts served. Over 300,205 breakfasts given till date. Seniors Wellness Online Series: Weekly Saturday sessions for Seniors – these are regular, online sessions that cover a variety of topics including mental and physical wellness. We have had Yoga, Zumba, digital literacy, posture and falls awareness, cooking, gardening, dental health, elder abuse, community awareness sessions and many more! Over 500 seniors have benefited by the wellness program since it started. International and Youth Student Support: Over 5069 hampers of essential groceries have been given to students in need, and we aim to serve up to 10,000 needy young students who are hungry. We are working with Sheridan College(3 campuses), Seneca downtown campus, Toronto Metropolitan University and Trios College in partnership with Mohawk College. Additional colleges who want to partner with us are: Humber College, Niagara College, Lambton College, Georgian College, Algoma University, Fanshawe College, Yorkville, Canadore College, Conestoga College, Centennial College, Loyalist College, and Durham College. Sai Taaza Fresh Produce: Fresh produce for needy seniors and families to promote better health and wellness. There is an established link between fresh food and better physical and mental health. Seniors who get only dry and packaged goods are deprived of fresh foods that are so important for their health and well-being. Sai Dham Food Bank has delivered fresh produce of 30,000Lbs to seniors in senior housing buildings in GTA in 2021. Supporting other Foodbanks/ Churches: Up to 100,000Lbs. of food is distributed every month to different agencies; foodbanks and churches in the GTHA region who further support additional needy individuals in our community
