About This Cause
New Growth Family Centre Inc. (NGFC Inc.) is a registered Canadian charity committed to supporting children, youth, and families who are navigating the complex impacts of learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation issues, and trauma. Founded on more than 30 years of experience in special education and behavioral support, NGFC Inc. was established to provide compassionate, personalized, and practical help for families who often feel overwhelmed or underserved by traditional systems. Our work is grounded in trauma-informed, relationship-based principles that recognize the powerful role of connection in healing and growth. We understand that when a child struggles—whether due to ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, or emotional trauma—the entire family feels the impact. That’s why our approach focuses not only on the child but on the well-being and confidence of the parent or caregiver. At the heart of our programming is one-on-one life and parent coaching designed to empower caregivers with the tools and strategies they need to support their children effectively while restoring peace, structure, and emotional safety at home. We provide targeted support that helps families understand behavior through the lens of trauma and neurological development, enabling more informed, empathetic, and sustainable responses to daily challenges. NGFC Inc. also offers outreach services, workshops, and resource sharing to educators, service providers, and community partners. Our goal is to build stronger, more resilient communities by enhancing understanding and collaboration across systems of care and education. Our founder and Program Director, Aletha E. McArthur, brings over three decades of experience as a special education behavior specialist, with a focused commitment to trauma-informed practices. Her two-year mentorship under renowned child trauma expert Dr. Bryan Post has shaped the foundation of our coaching model and informs our work with families to this day. Through coaching, education, and outreach, NGFC Inc. exists to walk alongside families—helping them grow stronger, more connected, and better equipped to support their children with compassion and confidence. We believe that by supporting families, we are planting the seeds of lasting change in the lives of children and in the health of our communities.
