How We Save lives Addiction, and death related to addiction and substance usage, has increased to epidemic levels in Canada. We are currently experiencing a nationwide opioid epidemic and death by overdoses have increased immensely. The social and economic costs of addiction to our community are significant. Mental illness and addiction costs in Canada are estimated over $50 billion each year. Canada is experiencing a national epidemic and people are dying from overdoses at rates we have never seen before. Addiction is a chronic, life threatening illness that is ravaging our country and our community. The small and inaccessible short-term treatment options that currently exist are simply not meeting the need and our services are needed now more than ever before. Cornerstone does not just help people get sober, we as an organization, and as a community, help individuals learn how to live again.
