Mission Statement

Embracing quality in living, compassion in death, and support in bereavement to the Foothills community.

About This Cause

The Foothills Country Hospice is one of the first rural, purpose-built, free-standing hospice homes for terminally ill adults in Canada. The hospice is a place of refuge where specialized professionals and volunteers provide care for residents. We envision a welcoming home-like country setting where terminally ill patients and their loved ones receive exemplary care and experience a quality and compassionate end-of-life journey. Our facility features eight individual patient rooms and one overnight guest room. The hospice is located on 8 acres of donated treed land just outside of Okotoks. Our hospice home provides medical care and meals at no cost for people with a terminal illness. Alberta Health Services supports 57% of this budget; the remaining dollars are covered by fundraising activities such as the Foothills Hike for Hospice Hustle and the Gratitude and Giving Gala, as well as third-party events and memorial donations.
