To build affordable homes for communities and with communities.

About This Cause

PRESENT FOCUS: HOW DO WE KEEP OUR SENIORS SAFE? A REAL HOME. A REAL LIFE. ELDERHOUSE a prototype for supported living. Let's give seniors Home, Dignity, & Life worth living. Jack Long Foundation's is focusing on the dire need to give seniors a safe home, where they can thrive. We asked seniors. We listened and we heard... "Don't take away our choices." Elderhouse is more than a building - it's about people and caring relationships, private spaces, light, a friendly atmosphere, nutrition, and living well. A different perspective - a focus on healthy living and not managing health conditions. It’s about people… some of our most valuable. A NEW WAY... a place that is designed by seniors for seniors… something that belongs in every community. Let's build a home where life happens. Elderhouse is a shared home that will house up to 23 people with a facility dedicated staff, family style meals, surrounded by families and park space. Health supports will be delivered by Alberta Health Homecare. Elderhouse is a transferable model. JLF commits to assisting with duplicating Elderhouse in other communities to provide an alternative choice for ageing-in-place.
