About This Cause

Making Water Knowledge Common Knowledge CAWST envisions a world where people have the opportunity to succeed because their water and sanitation needs have been met. As a Canadian charity and licensed engineering firm, CAWST addresses the global need for safe drinking water and sanitation by building local knowledge and skills so people can implement household solutions themselves. Clean water, sanitation and hygiene are essential for health, education, economic prosperity and household resilience. Billions of people are trapped in a cycle of poverty and disease because they lack safe drinking water. Technology and infrastructure alone cannot solve this issue. So what’s missing? The answer is localized skills and knowledge. Thanks to our donors’ generosity, CAWST is able to invest in people so they can create sustainable, generational change in their communities. We provide knowledge, skills and training on affordable technologies for homes, schools and clinics. By working with existing, in-country organizations to start, scale, or strengthen water and sanitation projects, we reach those most in need. In 2021, CAWST provided training and support to 9,575 people across 101 countries. Working with more than 420 organizations, we helped bring improved water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to over five million people. Our goal is to reach 100 million people by 2030.
