St. Felix Centre provides compassionate service to some of the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our community in a safe, welcoming and respectful environment inclusive of all faiths, genders, cultures and abilities.
About This Cause
Established in 1993, St. Felix Centre is a registered charity dedicated to providing support to some of the most marginalized individuals in the Toronto downtown core: people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, food insecurity, precarious housing, and other complex challenges stemming from poverty. St Felix Centre has been described as "a beacon of charitable service in the heart of the City", and we are dedicated to provide programming and compassionate services in a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment inclusive of all faiths, genders, cultures, and abilities. The Centre's Core Values are: Respect for Human Dignity, Compassion, Transformation, Solidarity With People in Need, Justice & Peace. The Centre has also a long tradition for being 100% pet friendly, and we offer a variety of opportunities to support people experiencing homelessness in caring for their pet. Our main programs and services are: *24-HOUR RESPITE SITE: St. Felix Centre operates two 24-Hour Respite sites, providing access to a safe and welcoming co-ed space to rest for 62 people per night. *Community Meals Program: COMMUNITY MEALS PROGRAM: Between our two sites, the program serves an average of 20,000 meals per month. *ST. FELIX HOUSE (Transitional Home for Women): 14 women reside in our transitional home for women. The program offers: One Stop Program, life skills workshops, casework and housing support. *CASEWORK & HOUSING: Amongst other supports, our team provides access to crisis and mental health supports, housing casework, addiction and detox supports, funding supports, and more. *P.A.W.S. (Pets: Accommodating Wishes and Support): It supports homeless owners in the care of their pets by providing them with the opportunity to apply for financial support to access emergency veterinary care for their pets. Our sites are 100% pet friendly, so people don't have to chose between being safe and their pets. *ONE STOP: The program offers training and pre-employment opportunities for women who currently reside in our transitional home, making their return to independent living easier and faster. *DROP-IN SERVICES: The Centre receives guests every day to access computers, showers, storage space for their personal belongings, and more. *CLOTHING BANK: Approximately 30,000 clothing items are distributed amongst our guests throughout the year, and almost 8,000 toiletries are offered in the same period of time, including feminine hygiene products.
