About This Cause

CRIS is a non-profit society dedicated to creating adaptive, accessible, and inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities for people of all ages who live with physical, cognitive, intellectual, and sensory challenges and disabilities, be it temporary or permanent. With years of experience making outdoor dreams a reality, CRIS focuses on acknowledging certain adaptations and accommodations need to be made for each individual to maximize ability, and to gain the physical, emotional, mental, and social benefits from outdoor recreation. CRIS provides outdoor recreation programs and experiences with our clients’ diverse needs and desires in mind. These programs reduce isolation, promote integration, independence, empowerment, and improve overall well-being. Our mission is to create inclusion and equity in outdoor recreation and sport by removing barriers to access, ensuring everyone can experience the therapeutic benefits of outdoor recreation. From hiking, cycling, and paddling throughout the Okanagan to glacier traverses up Mount Begbie, or rock climbing in Squamish, CRIS can make any outdoor dream a reality. With the largest fleet of adaptive equipment in the Okanagan, CRIS can facilitate programs for every ability in just about any activity.
