Mission Statement

CAMTA’s mission is to enhance the lives of those citizens in developing countries who are desperately in need of but unable to access, the first world medical intervention they require by providing medical and surgical care.

About This Cause

Established in 2001, CAMTA is a registered Canadian charity based in Edmonton, Alberta. CAMTA sends a group of non-medical and medical volunteers to Ecuador each year to perform orthopedic surgeries on adult and pediatric patients. Our work is carried out at Un Canto a la Vida Hospital in Quito. Our volunteers also provide continuing education and share ideas of treatment practices with our medical counterparts in Ecuador. Our volunteer teams work together both here and abroad through mutual respect and effective communication. All our volunteers return home with a new perspective that resonates in their daily lives as Canadians and makes them more responsible citizens of the world at large. In the future, CAMTA hopes to visit Ecuador more than once a year, and to someday expand to support needy communities in other locations around the world.
