Mission Statement

To prepare singers ages 6 - 14 for choral performances of the highest standard, explore and expand their knowledge of the repertoire, introduce our audiences to the beauty and power of this music and to develop strong characters that enrich our community with insight, cultural awareness, respect and self-discipline.

About This Cause

The EDMONTON CHILDREN’S CHOIR program provides music training for young people ages 6-14 in Edmonton and surrounding regions through its four choirs: Primary Choir, Junior Choir, and Junior High Choir. The goal of the organization is to educate and inspire young people in the choral art form through regular rehearsals and performance opportunities. The exploration of music from a variety of cultures and genres provides the participants of the Edmonton Children’s Choir program with a superior musical education that emphasizes excellence in performance. Through regular rehearsals on Tuesday evenings the choristers are taught basic musicianship skills and music literacy, including: vocal technique, sight-reading, rudimentary theory, and advanced ensemble proficiency. Advanced musical concepts are assimilated into the learning program through the regular and numerous performance opportunities. An intentional derivative of this experience is a safe and nurturing social environment, where individual skills and abilities are cultivated.
