Mission Statement
We welcome, support, and integrate new immigrants and refugees to build a vibrant Jewish community and a strong, inclusive Canada that values all newcomers. All newcomers should be warmly welcomed, well served, and connected to communities. They have the right to be safe, treated with dignity and respect, and valued for their traditions, cultures, achievements, and aspirations. JIAS provides newcomers with the choices and opportunities that will empower them towards self-reliance.
About This Cause
JIAS has been welcoming newcomers since 1922. Today, we offer client-driven, equitable support to newcomers of all backgrounds as they settle in the GTA. JIAS Toronto meets with newcomers to offer information, orientation, needs assessments, community connections, and referral services. All newcomers, regardless of country of origin or financial circumstances, should feel welcome and empowered to get the support they need from JIAS. As a proud Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) with the Canadian government, JIAS Toronto can privately sponsor refugees to come to Canada with the support of constituent groups.
