To be a leader in developing, producing, and presenting plays based in the mystery genre, while providing a performance home for other organizations
About This Cause
We are the only professional theatre committed to producing a full season of plays in the mystery genre. Vertigo Theatre was built in 2003. We house The Playhouse and The Studio, two different performance venues which are used for a variety of arts organizations. Each season, over 80,000 people pass through our doors. Vertigo Theatre is located at the base of the Calgary Tower in the heart of downtown Calgary, and is home to the organization, its two performance venues and the BD&P Mystery Theatre Series. BD&P Mystery Theatre produces and presents five shows based in the mystery genre. Since our very first production in 1978 – Agatha Christie’s THE MOUSETRAP – we have continued to expand our boundaries, including presenting World Premieres like NINE DRAGONS, and UNDERCOVER. Our seasons feature a mix of murder mystery and mayhem. We have classics such as SHERLOCK HOLMES and new Canadian works such as THE LONELY DINER. Our loyal audience is growing! Currently we welcome over 4,700 subscribers to Vertigo Theatre.
