Mission Statement
Our mission as a Christian global development organization is to work with communities to increase the standard of living of children, women, and families, through access to education, health, and sustainable income.
About This Cause
Founded in 1997, ANIDA is an organization rooted in Christian values whose mission is to alleviate poverty and address the challenges facing families living in poverty. In fulfilling our mission, we operate four community-based programs that aim to create opportunities through access to education. Our biggest program is the Hope for Tomorrow Sponsorship Program which links children and youth from lower socioeconomic backgrounds with international sponsors to support their access to education. Secondly, we operate the Women’s Development Center in Ghana which aims to empower women by providing free educational and vocational training. Lastly, our Emergency Relief Program which comprises our two Foodbanks in Toronto and Ottawa, and our fundraising initiatives to respond to disaster situations. We are committed to reducing poverty by strengthening access to education and skills training. In 2020, we had 562 students registered on the Hope for Tomorrow Program across Jamaica, Ghana, and Liberia. Since the establishment of the Women’s Development Centre in the Ghanaian town of Koforidua, over 2,500 women have graduated with professional skills training in business, literacy, and math. In our fight for healthier communities, our food banks in Toronto and Ottawa service more than 300 households every week have distributed about 10,000 books to children and youth, and run two Summer Reading Programs since 2020. Finally, in 2019, we received accreditation from Imagine Canada’s Standards Program for excellence in nonprofit accountability, transparency, and governance.
