Mission Statement
The mission of the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health is to advance the health of women in Canada and around the world through research, education and advocacy in obstetrics and gynaecology.
About This Cause
The Canadian Foundation for Women's Health is Canada's national not-for-profit fundraising foundation for women’s sexual and reproductive health. With the support of individuals, medical organizations and companies, we fund research that is improving “health between the hips” for Canadian women at every stage of their lives. We are champions of increased funding for research on women’s health and we also foster support for international women’s health programs. Goals The goals of the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health are to: - Increase research in obstetrics and gynaecology - Support initiatives that empower women to make informed choices regarding their health - Ensure that every woman has the right to survive pregnancy and childbirth - Ensure that every woman has access to the care she needs to deliver a healthy baby through a safe pregnancy and childbirth. Priorities Based on the mission, the primary areas of focus of CFWH will be: - Increased medical research on women’s health issues - Increased education of women on health issues affecting them and their families - Support for women and women’s health in developing regions of the world. CFWH-Supported Research When you support CFWH, you are helping women through research into areas such as: In utero fetal health Preterm labour Safer pregnancies Post-partum depression Gestational diabetes Endometriosis Infertility Hysterectomy Safe delivery and newborn health Better use of drugs during pregnancy Treatment of breast, ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers Menopause Sexuality Contraception Care and health of women throughout their lifespan International Women’s Health Programs CFWH helps fund training programs for healthcare professionals in developing countries to improve maternal and newborn health and reduce incidence of cervical cancer.
