Mission Statement
Ve’ahavta is a Jewish humanitarian organization dedicated to promoting positive change in the lives of people of all faiths and backgrounds who have been marginalized by poverty and hardship. Ve’ahavta mobilizes volunteers in meaningful, hands-on experiences to fulfill our collective responsibility to care for our neighbour.
About This Cause
At Ve’ahavta, the ethics of justice, kindness, and responsibility move from guiding principles into tangible actions. Through our social service programs, we address the longstanding societal problem of local poverty and homelessness while simultaneously mobilizing volunteers to act and make a difference. At Ve’ahavta these principles of Judaism come alive in a uniquely Canadian way – inclusive of all backgrounds and faiths and built on the belief that when we all come together with purpose, we can solve even the largest of society’s challenges. Ve’ahavta is a social service agency offering high-impact programs for people at risk of homelessness, helping them move from instability to self-sufficiency. Our programs fill a service gap by providing access to supplies and services needed while experiencing homelessness and creating a path focused on the whole person to develop the skills and self-confidence necessary for re-entry to the workforce. We maximize our impact by being focused on the development of the skills and confidence necessary for education and employment. Our programs complement the work of other agencies from whom we provide and receive referrals. Their services include housing/shelter placement, healthcare, legal/financial services, job skills training, newcomer services, and employment placement.
