Mission Statement
The Toronto Scottish Regiment Foundation's mission is to raise a permanent or Capital Fund, the income from which may be given to the Serving Battalion to help cover the costs of maintaining the Regiments’ distinctive highland uniforms and dress, known as the Hodden Grey, and to continue with the Regiments’ unique heritage, traditions and history. It will also assist in meeting the operating needs of the Serving Battalion not covered by the Department of National Defence, as well as aligning its efforts with other worthy military causes beyond the Scottish Regiments.
About This Cause
The Toronto Scottish Regimental Senate approved the formation of a Regimental Foundation in 1979. The Toronto Scottish Regiment Foundation is a corporation registered under the laws of the Province of Ontario, and has been registered as a Public Charitable Foundation with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. Its mission is to raise a permanent or Capital Fund, the income from which may be given to the Serving Battalion to help cover the costs of maintaining the Regiments’ distinctive highland uniforms and dress, known as the Hodden Grey, and to continue with the Regiments’ unique heritage, traditions and history. It will also assist in meeting the operating needs of the Serving Battalion not covered by the Department of National Defence, as well as aligning its efforts with other worthy military causes beyond the Scottish Regiments. All donations to the Capital Fund are invested, unless otherwise stipulated by the donor. The annual interest and dividends accrued from the Capital Fund are made available to the Commanding Officer of the Regiment to utilize at his discretion to achieve the mission statement above. The Foundation is administered by a group of seven (7) Trustees, five (5) of whom are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting, and two (2) of whom (see below) are based on the appointment they hold within the Regimental family. One of these seven (7) Trustees is appointed Chairman. Chairman of the Regimental Senate President - Regimental Association
