Mission Statement

Founded in 2003, the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival presents an annual 11-day festival and year-round events to showcase and celebrate the artistic visions of Latin American, Latin-Canadian and Indigenous filmmakers. We hope that through experiencing stories of historically underrepresented peoples and cultures on screen that we may all come to know and respect one another more, and be a place of welcoming and positive change.

About This Cause

The Vancouver Latin American Film Festival (VLAFF) is a charitable organization with the mission to exhibit Latin American films in Vancouver, BC, Canada and to promote cross-cultural dialogue. We support the works of both emerging and established filmmakers from across Latin America and the diaspora. VLAFF's goal is to bring people together to experience a dynamic selection of contemporary Latin American cinema and interact with guest filmmakers from around the world. We also organize an active Youth Jury program, post-screening discussions, Q&As led by local film professionals, and receptions with live music and performances. On average our lineup includes films from over 16 countries in 19 different languages (all with subtitles in English). Everyone is welcome. Please come join us!!
