Mission Statement

Right To Play protects, educates and empowers to help children rise above adversity using the power of play.

About This Cause

Protect. Educate. Empower. It's what we do for 2.3 million children each year. Our programs protect, educate, and empower children so they can heal from the harsh realities of war and abuse, protect themselves from disease and go to school, so they can create a better future for themselves and their communities. It’s been a hard year for children around the world. COVID-19 has transformed their lives, and for many, it’s been only one of the life-changing crises they’ve faced this year. But they are standing up to the challenges they are facing, refusing to let disasters, wars, inequality, and the pandemic determine and limit their futures. Internationally, Right To Play works in 15 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, providing children with opportunities to play, learn and grow. We play for change in four key areas: quality education, gender equality, health & well being, and child protection. In Canada, Right To Play partners with over 70 Indigenous communities to help provide culturally-relevant, play based programs for children and youth. We strive to foster safe, inclusive spaces where children and youth can strengthen their community ties, build life skills and celebrate each other’s strengths as they become leaders. Children across Canada and all over the world are facing unprecedented crisis as the global pandemic exacerbates inequality, discrimination, and the effects of disasters and war. Support from Right To Play is helping them to overcome these challenges and push through to a brighter future in 2021. With your support, crisis won’t stop their dreams.
