Mission Statement
The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Regina Centre was founded in 1910 and is a non-profit, charitable organization devoted to the advancement of astronomy and allied sciences.
About This Cause
The Regina Centre is a group of volunteers that actively promote astronomy to the general public. We set up our telescopes for people of all ages to look through and teach people about the universe. Our observatory used to be located on Broad Street in Regina but was moved to the top of the Saskatchewan Science Centre and renamed the Kalium Observatory in 1989. Our observatory is open for public viewing every couple of weeks throughout the year. For specific dates and times, refer to our website. Our members enjoy many areas of astronomy but participate mostly in visual astronomy and astrophotography. The sun, moon, aurora, planets, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae and variable stars are our favorite targets to observe. We hold monthly meetings which are open to everyone. Come listen to an astronomy presentation and find out what’s up in the sky this month. Our Centre has a rich history so we’ve created a 712-page history book which is available for purchase. See our website for details.
