Mission Statement
The Vancouver Humane Society works to expose the underlying causes of animal abuse and works towards practical and positive change.
About This Cause
The Vancouver Humane Society believes that all animals have intrinsic value and the needs of non-human animals must be respected. We provide people with the information they need to make compassionate choices in their every day living. We try to allocate resources judiciously in order to have the most impact, so we choose issues that affect the most animals, such as factory farming, particularly in the areas of meat and egg production. We have also been active on the issue of animals used in entertainment, exposing the animal abuse inherent in activities such as rodeos, aquariums, circuses and zoos. We help companion animals with our McVitie Fund, which provides financial help to low-income companion animal guardians who suddenly find themselves faced with an emergency requiring veterinary treatment for their animals.
