The mission of Dress for Success Toronto is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools they need to thrive in work and in life.
About This Cause
Dress for Success Toronto is part of a global movement for change. We are a local affiliate of an international not-for-profit organization operating in over 140 cities in 23 countries. Since 2009, we have helped over 20,000 women in the GTA transition from unemployment to economic independence. We work together with agency partners, corporate sponsors, individual donors, and over 100 dedicated volunteers to create real impact in women’s lives. Our vision is creating a world with greater possibilities for women, non-binary individuals and their families. We strive for a world where all women are financially independent and are treated with dignity and respect, so they are able to harness their full power and recognize their role in economic sustainability. Our Purpose | Our purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions by providing each Client with clothing and resources they need to secure employment and actively define their future. Our Belief | Every woman has the right to realize her full potential and achieve financial independence. We believe that with the proper education, resources and tools, that this world is possible. Achieving this is made possible when we come together as a community. By recognizing the significant role women have in our economic development, we are able to build a stronger workforce for future generations. We believe that by building up a woman’s agency and knowledge, better synergies between gender equality and economic sustainability are realized, enabling her to generate a long-term impact in both her private and public life. Who We Serve | We help all women, any age and ethnicity, any background who needs our help. We create an empowering experience in an inclusive, non-judgmental and supportive environment so our clients can feel comfortable and safe. - Women from all ethnicities and races - Women aged 18 to 65+ years old - Women living on low income - Single mothers, raising an average of 2 to 3 children - Women with all levels of education; more than 80% of our women have post-secondary education - Women who are newcomers to Canada with 47% having lived in Canada for less than 5 years
