About This Cause
Light Up the World is a Canadian charity and International development organization dedicated to powering opportunity by providing access to energy and life-changing technologies. When a community is provided access to a sustainable energy source it builds their capacity to fight poverty. Sustainable energy unlocks the opportunity for remote communities to use advanced tools at schools, - like internet and computers - improve productivity in the home, and increase safety at night. Working in some of the most remote and underserved areas in the world, LUTW trains local technicians and builds the capacity of local service providers to transition to a sustainable future. LUTW has worked with over 220 partner organizations to bring solar power to communities in 54 countries, but there is still much work to be done. LUTW is looking for funds to invest in training, solar energy projects, and our social enterprise program in Peru. These projects help communities increase their resilience and autonomy, helping to support traditional livelihoods and protect the environment that they are dependent upon.
