Mission Statement

The Gathering Place Association’s mandate is to provide equitable access to community supports for Vancouver’s marginilized populations. We primarily serve the low-income, unhoused, underemployed, disabled, youth, seniors, indigenous, newly immigrated, diverse backgrounds, and LGBTQ2S+. Providing free of charge programs in health & wellness, arts & culture, education & career, food security & neccesities, and community events.

About This Cause

To provide a program-by-program breakdown of what’s offered at The Gathering Place, our health & wellness programs includes weightroom access, personal training, fitness classes, yoga, meditation, and psychologist-led seminars. Arts & culture programming delivers art therapy, cartooning, painting, pottery, photography, film, art exhibitions and out trips to local events. Education and career supports include the Vancouver School Board affiliated Gathering Place Education Centre for completion of grades 11-12, a library, computer workshop, UBC Science 101, post-secondary seminars, financial literacy classes and job boards. Food security and necessities provides cooking classes, dietician-led seminars, food hampers, community meals, free food Fridays, a subsidized cafeteria, overnight shelter, RainCity housing placements, basic medical services, clothing, and other donations. Community Events relates to holiday celebration with block party events to commemorate Multi Cultural Day, Indigenous Day, Hallows Fest, and ACCESS Fest, amongst others, as well as weekly events focused on games, movies, and live music. All programming is free of cost, with the exception of our subsidized cafeteria where nutritious meals are served below cost at $2.75-3.50.
