Mission Statement
Family Enterprise Foundation’s (FEF) overarching purpose is to promote the long-term success of family enterprises and ensure family-owned businesses thrive for generations. FEF’s mandate is to represent and support families as entities tied to their enterprises. FEF believes that family enterprises are stronger when they have the support of a community of peers, are offered best in class knowledge, have learning opportunities and access to family-centric advice. By helping family enterprises facilitate a deeper understanding of their significance as economic drivers and a stabilizing force in every community across the country, we aspire to support and empower these family businesses for generations to come.
About This Cause
The Foundation was launched with the intention to help family enterprises prosper by addressing the numerous elements of family enterprise ownership through knowledge creation, continuity research, and community building. These represent the three strategic pillars of Family Enterprise Foundation. Knowledge Creation: As leaders in family enterprise education, we develop comprehensive family specific educational materials and family specific resources for family enterprises, their advisors, and institutions, many of which are one-of-a-kind solutions available in Canada. These tools permit families to apply best practices towards achieving long-term intergenerational ownership. Continuity Research: We are the only family driven organization in Canada dedicated to conducting family enterprise specific research to understand the inherent complex issues pertaining to running family business operations and, understanding the Canadian economic landscape and, how they fit into the picture. Community Building: At the heart of our ecosystem is a family enterprise community with an overarching philosophy of knowledge-sharing to promote successful family outcomes. We are building a connected family enterprise community across Canada, where we can all share knowledge and experiences, learn from, help, and partner with each other. Our ecosystem includes business families, Family Enterprise Advisors, corporate entities, academics, researchers, and family business centres, all of whom recognize the important role of family enterprise in driving sustainable economic prosperity.
