Mission Statement
To provide safe affordable housing to the urban indigenous community
About This Cause
Everything Lu’ma does is grounded in the rights of Indigenous Peoples and respect and dignity for all. Lu’ma and its sister societies are guided by a volunteer board of directors Indigenous to Turtle Island. Collectively, our dedicated team of more than 100 has over 300 years of experience in delivering affordable housing and programs to support Vancouver’s Indigenous communities. This application is for Klahowya Tillicum Shelter, even when Lu'ma is an indigenous organization we stand by Lu'ma values in respect and dignity for all, meaning the shelter is open for any person that is in need. The shelter gives safe living to 80 people that experience homelessness. Klahowya is working with city of Vancouver to provide safe living space to another 18 people. At the end of January Klahowya Tillicum shelter will have 98 people living at the shelter. We provide different services at the shelter with help of our partners.
