Mission Statement

Harmony Home Taiwan, is a non-profit organization established in 2011 by Nicole Yang. That said, since 1986, Harmony Home has been helping people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA). We are committed to providing care, shelter, accessible treatment, and support to those who are affected by HIV/AIDS. With our two service centers in Taiwan, we shelter over 100 individuals who are HIV-positive, recovering IDU’S, MSMs, migrant workers, and foreigners. Harmony Home Taiwan believes in empowering PLHA, especially the mothers whose children are being sheltered in our organization. We are involved in raising awareness to the general public in hopes to reduce stigma and discrimination against PLHA. Recently, we’ve held campaigns at over 150,000 schools, institutions, and communities. Furthermore, we help PLHA find employment opportunities, as well as provide shelter to unlawful residents. Many of them are migrant workers, who are victims of human trafficking or are non-Taiwanese children and their mothers. Our shelters have trained and qualified social workers who oversee their treatment. As of today, Harmony Home Taiwan takes care of 200 non-Taiwanese children. To ensure their right to a better life, we provide them with 24 hour care, medical assistance, and educational opportunities.

About This Cause

Harmony Home Foundation, Taiwan (Harmony Home, Taiwan) is a non-profit organization founded by Nicole Yang, who has been helping people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) since 1986. We are committed to providing shelter, care, treatment access, and support to people living with HIV/AIDS and their children in Taiwan. With two service centers in Taiwan, we shelter around 100 individuals including HIV-positive patients with disabilities, recovering intravenous drug users, HIV-positive women released from prison, men who have sex with men, migrant workers, and struggling foreigners. Harmony Home, Taiwan believes in the empowerment and involvement of PLHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS). Many PLHA, especially women whose children are also housed in our shelters, are employed by Harmony Home as full-time assistants. Actively involved in advocating for the rights of PLHA, we hold HIV education and prevention campaigns for the general public. Our work facilitates better understanding of HIV/AIDS to reduce stigma and discrimination against PLHA. Since 1986, we have held campaigns for over 150,000 participants in schools, institutions, and local communities. We also assist PLHAs with finding employment opportunities until they can support themselves and live on their own. Since 1997, we have offered another service: sheltering unlawful residents. Many of them are struggling migrant workers, victims of human trafficking, non-Taiwanese mothers, and their children. Our trained and qualified social workers provide aid to work against their difficulties, including torture, exploitation, and poor health and nutrition. Today, Harmony Home, Taiwan takes care of over 150 non-Taiwanese children. To guarantee their right to a safer life, education, and health, we provide them with live-in care, as well as educational and medical assistance. It is projected that over 200 non-Taiwanese children will benefit from our programs.
