Mission Statement

The mission of Corporación Akará is to promote comprehensive social, cultural, and human development through creative, artistic, investigative, and innovative strategies. We are dedicated to supporting vulnerable and disabled populations, including children, adolescents, young people, and gifted and talented individuals. Our multidisciplinary approach integrates education, environmental care, and social support, fostering inclusive opportunities and enhancing the buen vivir (well-being) of the communities we serve.

About This Cause

Corporación Akará is a non-profit organization committed to advancing social, cultural, and human development. Our focus is on supporting vulnerable populations, including children, adolescents, young people, disabled, gifted, and talented individuals. We implement innovative, scientific, and artistic programs, conduct multidisciplinary research, and promote environmental stewardship. By fostering inclusive educational and social support initiatives, we strive to create opportunities that improve the overall well-being and resilience of the communities we serve. Key initiatives include: GINACÚ: A research group recognized by Minciencias, focusing on scientific research and innovation about gifted and talent studies, creativity, teaching, and pedagogy. Semilleros de investigación (Enrichments clusters): Active groups such as Semillero Hábitat, Semillero de Teatro, Semillero de Matemáticas, Metageo, and Limnología Akarita. These are centered on children and undergraduate students, nurturing scientific talent and encouraging participation, territorial appropriation, and intervention. Áurea: An alternative education project that supports the development of talent in our community. Áurea provides a creative, nurturing environment for students and their families, emphasizing ethical care, and creativity in research, arts, sports, and crafts. It fosters a culture of inclusivity, recognizing individual learning processes. Red SIRA: A network of research groups in partnership with educational institutions and government entities, focusing on environmental education and community involvement to foster sustainable development, and the development of scientific talent within the public sector.
