About This Cause

We are a civil society organization, founded 2o13g. because we recognized the main challenge in Croatia, and that is unemployment. With our act, we have decided that our main areas of work will be education, development of entrepreneurship and volunteering, social welfare, environmental protection and international cooperation. We currently have 25 members and 4 volunteers. Our founding goals are; Improving non-institutional education and training of children and vulnerable groups (persons without permanent employment);designing specific education programs in educational institutions - primary, secondary and high schools in order to prevent health problems of children and young people; self-employment promotion programs and advocacy for gender equality; encouraging the development of social entrepreneurship; international cooperation in all segments of the Association's work, creation of new projects, initiation of mobility in education as well as promotion of the Croatian cultural and development strategy; assistance and support to persons at risk of poverty and assistance to all other socially excluded persons; initiating the protection of human and minority rights; initiating environmental and nature protection and ecological awareness of target groups through the organization of courses, seminars and workshops. We have been operating in the Republic of Croatia for a full eight years and we are registered in the Register of Non-Profit Organizations and conduct transparent financial operations that are supervised by the authorized bookkeeping service Konto Far from Zagreb. We believe that we have sufficient professional experience and implementation capacity to implement all assigned projects, both independently and with partners. In the period from 2013 to 2016, the Libera Association and its president Ines Rudelić, M.Sc. held Workshops to encourage self-employment at the Croatian Employment Service in Zagreb, and in that period an extremely large number of small crafts, companies and associations were opened. Nearly 5,000 people a year opened some form of private business during that period. Also, out of the total number of approximately 1000 participants on our workshops, 30% started with self-employment. In that period, the Association also implemented projects financed by grants from the City of Zagreb, which it received through public calls and with which the City of Zagreb financed the work of the Associations. Thanks to the mentioned program, a number of different educational programs have been realized, such as: WE WORK TOGETHER, LEGISLATIVE FRAMEWORK FOR MINORITY RIGHTS; IDEA PARTY; I AM ALSO AN ENTREPRENEUR AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE CITY OF ZAGREB. These projects and their success encouraged us in the application for the European project in 2017 - EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment. We gathered a wide range of partners who selflessly supported us, but the procedure for associations from Croatia did not allow direct access to the fund, for which we did not have information at the time of application so we did not collect enough points. Below is a brief description of the project idea: Accoding to the focus of the call - our project ”Above All” – Models how we create our new jobs will support young people with physical disabilities, with mental disabilities and young people without parental care aged 18 years, with special attention to woman. Due to the fact that there are cca 511850 people with disability in Croatia out of which cca 307934 men and cca 203916 women. Basically people with disabilities make 11,9 percent of all the population of the Croatian society. The largest number of people with disabilities are in active working age, almost 48 percent. Also, every year according to data provided by the Rehabilitation center in Croatia 150 proteges leave a children homes without proper parental care. They have to start their own independent life, although their employment opportunities are limited. With this project we would like to provide them with support in those specific areas such as education, job search, self-employment and employment. In cooperation with our partners Politehnica University Timisoara Faculty of Management in Production and Transportation Romania and Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary, Croatian Ergonomics Society and Croatian Alliance of Physically Disabled Persons associations as a first step we would like to detect specific problems we shall when hiring the target group and after analyzing the observed problems we shall create that new beginning. Our goal was to prepare a kind of education that they would be interested in and will encourage them to change the relationship between work and the working environment, in a way they would work in specially adapted co-working areas. Also on the other hand mentors in those co-working places will be young people without parental care. Why? Because they deserve strong support in an innovative approach to the labor market..The role and responsibility of partners in the project was:Analysis of the current situation in their own country according current employment strategy, Designing educational programs and creating a common document, Participation in all project activities of the target group and members, Efficient practices that develop sustainable jobs, New and innovative solutions fokus on the specific need of the target group and members, Developing new educational models and making a scientific study applicable to all other members of EU, Cooperation with all the project members, Outtreach strategies and involvement of social entrepreneurship, Folow – up of the target group members in order to identify risks and solution,Preparing annual meetings and conferences and Project promotion in there own country. The role and responsibility of LIBERA in the project was: Association Libera as a lead partner (further LIBERA) through its present work has demonstrated the quality and perseverance in the design, implementation and evaluation of the projects. That's why our beneficiary partners have chosen our project management association. The main results that LIBERA expect from the project and also we thought that there are also our partners expectation were: innovation and exploration , transfer of know-how and good practice and analysis and research in all the specific areas of the projects. The project will get the knowledge and experience of the leading partner, especially in the project's default segment, and this is unemployment.LIBERA wanted to develop new mentoring and coaching approach with innovative focus on employability an soft skills development and through the exchange of formal and informal knowledge had to prepare a target group for a modern future labor market.LIBERA had to coordinate partners in the project according to all project activities and according the Partners agreement.During 2018/2019, also FINANCIAL LITERACY workshops were held in the association's premises. The fact that 350,000 people in Croatia could not use their bank account because they were blocked and under foreclosure prompted us to educate people on the one hand about banks and on the other hand about running the household budget. A large number of people also took out loans in foreign currency and during a period their credit debt almost doubled so we helped them in correspondence with banks and how to reduce debt or realize a new loan. Also in 2018, we put our first project on the Global giving platform called HOMELAND IN THE HEART OF CROATIAN CHILDREN.The Libera Association in its work contemplates and notices the current negative trends in Croatian society such as; unemployment and continuous migration. We hoped that project will bring benefits for the children in Croatian community in New Zealand and even for the future of Croatia itself, due to the fact that people in Croatia do not find jobs, and even less: adequate jobs, emigration has become popular among families who after a while completely lose contact with their parent state. Our second project WE EMPOWER CROATIAN CHILDREN TO OVERCOME FEARS in cooperation with Equestrian Club Jarun Zagreb, Veterinary Clinic Fabela Zagreb, Association Regoč Slavonski Brod and Acap chapter Zagreb (American Croatian professionals) managed to reach the set threshold of 50 donations in the amount of USD 5,000.00 and we have become partners of the Global giving foundation until September 2022. In this project we will use Animal Assisted Therapy method, as we firmly believe that this type of therapy and education will contribute children's faster recovery from various types of fears.Animal assisted therapy (AAT) is an option of therapy that involves the aid of animals as a form of treatment. It is used for the improvement of patients social, cognitive, physical, mental, emotional functioning and skills. Depending on the child’s needs, various types of animals can be used in animal assisted therapy. Animals can’t speak human language, so they provide a very nonjudgmental and comforting zone for those who are struggling with a mental health or learning disability. Animal Assisted Therapy can also be facilitated in groups, or as individual treatment. On the one hand, we are immensely grateful to Global giving and Facebook, which donated the first funds to us after the earthquake in Zagreb (March 2020) We bought food for the residents of the city who were left without their real estate and who were accommodated in the Student Home Cvjetno naselje, Zagreb. We also delighted mothers and babies at the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Vinogradska Street, Zagreb. The donation consisted of diapers, bottles, baby food and toys. The association gained new momentum in its activities and during 2020 we held a really respectable number of activities, despite earthquake and virus problems. However none of that stopped us and we got new energy to work even better and more. We hired one employee and paid all other professionals through royalties. This is a short summary about work of the Libera association and all additional information can be found on our website:http: //www.libera.hr/.
