Mission Statement
Télémaque is one of the pioneers of equal opportunities in education, with the mission of re-launching the social ladder in France, by revealing the potential of young people in fragile and priority areas. For the past 16 years, our comprehensive programme has aimed to combat social determinism by opening up the field of possibilities to committed and motivated young people from modest backgrounds.
About This Cause
Télémaque is present in more than 70 cities in 8 regions: Île-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (Lyon, Grenoble, Clermont-Ferrand and Saint-Etienne), Hauts-de-France (Lille, Tourcoing, Roubaix, Dunkerque) Occitanie (Toulouse, Montpellier, Nîmes & Alès), Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur (Marseille), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (Bordeaux), Pays de la Loire (Nantes) and Strasbourg. Our main activity is the "double mentoring" of disadvantaged young people with potential for success. Each beneficiary who joins the programme is accompanied by two mentors for six years: a mentor in their school and a mentor in a partner company form this trio. Around this approach, the association works on four dimensions: socio-cultural openness, discovery of the professional world, self-affirmation and empowerment of the school. Télémaque supports more than 1,900 beneficiaries this year with more than 200 partner companies. In addition, each month Télémaque brings together the mentees in each territory for company visits, a Télémaque Potentiel programme (speaking out, self-confidence, combating self-censorship), and cultural, sporting activities. Each mentee receives financial support in the form of an annual grant. We obtain very good results for baccalaureate holders, 100% of baccalaureate holders vs. 94% of national average in 2021 with 87% of mentions vs. 64% at national level. 100% of them graduated and are studying in higher education. We now have more than 750 alumni, youth that have been supported for 6 years.
