Our vision is a world where every person in distress at sea is rescued and treated with dignity.
About This Cause
SOS Humanity is a search and rescue organisation working to ensure that no one dies while fleeing. With our rescue ship Humanity 1, we bring more humanity to the Mediterranean. We rescue people seeking protection from drowning, care for them on board and bring them safely ashore. We provide the rescued people on board with clothing and food, as well as medical and psychological care. Furthermore, we identify special protection needs and communicate them to the respective agencies on land. We highlight things that shouldn’t be and document injustices. We amplify the voices of the people we met on board, share their stories and let the team of SOS Humanity as well as the civil society speak their mind. We believe that it is not enough to rescue people at sea – people are also saved from drowning by political decisions on land. In addition to rescuing at sea, we therefore inform the public about the inhumane consequences of European migration policies. We stand up for the rights of people forced to flee across the sea and demand political change. Our work is supported by a solidary, civil movement and financed by donations.
