Mission Statement
The Ηellenic Heart-Lung Transplant Association - HHLTA ‘’I SKYTALI’’ was established in 1991 with the name Heart Lung Transplant Association-(alteration of association’s constitution since 15th December 2014) by greek people who were the first patients that had been transplanted with heart in Harefield Hospital by Sir Magdi Yacoub and afterwards in Onasseio Cardiac Surgery Centre. The Ηellenic Heart-Lung Transplant Association - HHLTA ‘’I SKYTALI’’ is fighting daily to cultivate and spread nationwide the idea of organ donation for saving lives. Moreover, in these difficult times, it financially supports its members, having succeeded to fulfil for the 13th consecutive year so far, an utmost importance goal: a health insurance policy contract, which covers both hospital diagnostic tests, as well as a second transplant when necessary. All these are made possible thanks to the support of private initiative, both at individual as well as at a corporate level. The Ηellenic Heart-Lung Transplant Association - HHLTA ‘’I SKYTALI’’is a non profitable organization.Its aim is to help its members who have been transplanted,or expecting the transplant ,or suffer from severe heart and lung problems. The association consists of 80 members. Plenty of them have been heart transplanted in Herefield Hospital by Sir Magdi Yacoub , the rest of them are lung transplanted in European hospitals and also consists of people who have been heart transplanted by Mr. Petros Alivizatos in Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center.
