Mission Statement

Vision: Empowering the rural poor and most vulnerable groups for achieving in all aspects. Mission: • Improve the educational status of the disadvantaged girls and drop-out students • Safeguard orphan children • Organizing Women Self Help Groups, vocational skill training, and income generation activities • Home (shelter) for homeless • Protect and promote the environment through sustainable agriculture practices • Education to the poor children, child labor, differently-able children, and dropout school children in difficult circumstances. • Developing sustainable agriculture for the betterment of agriculturists and for food Security • Providing care and support for the elderly persons neglected by their families • Creating job opportunities for the women and youths. Ours organization mission and related programs Improve the educational status of the child labourers and drop-out students and other disadvantaged children - Running non-formal education centre in 10 hamlets nearly 280 children are benefitting, conducting weekend classes for 45 school going children on Information Communication Technology programme, and sports and competitive activities are conducted for the 58 school children. Safeguard orphan children - we are issuing study materials and dresses to the orphan children and also presenting prizes to the children who are excelling in their studies. Organizing Women Self Help Groups, vocational skill training, and income generation activities - Formed and supported, and make self-reliant to110 SHG members in Dindigul District with the support of nationalized banks and foreign donors. TAPWA conducts the skill training for the SHG members in tailoring, Garland Making, Porridge Bajra Vending, Vegetables Vending, Fruits Vending, Textile Sales, Fancy Materials Sales, Sanitary Goods Vending, Cooking Oil Sales, Washing powder, and coconut tree climbing. Home (shelter) for homeless - TAPWA addresses the problems of housing by providing safe shelters to disadvantaged and neglected women-headed families. Totally 140 houses constructed. Protect and promote the environment through sustainable agriculture practices -TAPWA conducts the following activities of awareness programs on drought mitigation for rural people, farm ponds, field protection walls, and recharge pits for bore wells. Improving the education and health to differently-able children in difficult circumstances - TAPWA provides a special education program, health camp, and medical support to differently-abled children. Conducts counseling programs for the parents and the children. Developing sustainable agriculture for the betterment of agriculturists and for food Security - TAPWA creates awareness of Agriculture, protection against pests and prevention of plant diseases, implementation of soil conservation, water management, drinking water, and pollution control. Providing care and support for the elderly persons neglected by their families - TAPWA is providing nutritious food to 40 elderly persons every Sunday in 5 villages. We conduct a health check-up every six months once.

Background information about the organization: Tamil Nadu People Welfare Association (TAPWA) is a voluntary organization, started during the year 1988 (on 16th August) as a registered body and it has been render its valuable services to the downtrodden people since then. TAPWA ensures serving the marginalized people for the betterment of their life by in various ways such as providing education, implementing awareness generation camps, creating and providing employment opportunities etc. It has also conducted health awareness, and Legal awareness camps in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, India. Awards Won and Recognitions: State Best NGO Award (Government of Tamil Nadu) TAPWA was selected as the best NGO for its women's welfare activities in the state of Tamil Nadu. The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu delivered the award with a gold medal and funds on the eve of Indian Independence day. Star Achiever Award; TAPWA, for its relentless social welfare efforts, was adjudged as the winner of the STAR Achiever Award during the 40th-year celebrations of the National Integrity Cultural Academy. The recognition included a Gold Medal. T.C. Rajakalaigan Award; TAPWA was selected for T.C. Rajakalaigan Award for Best Institution striving for the welfare of rural poor especially women and children by Thamilaga Cultural Academy, Trichy. The recognition includes a Gold Medal. Recognitions: 1. TAPWA has been included in the Data Base of Voluntary Organizations Volume II (2007-2008) by National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCED), New Delhi (Page nos. 418/419). 2. TAPWA has got 20 batches of training from the Coconut Development Board, Chennai, and provided with training of “Friends of Coconut Tree” training program. We have given training on “Plant Protection aspects in Coconut including Harvesting, using the Climbing Device” for about 400 farmers including 13 women farmers from 10 districts of Tamil Nadu. TAPWA is the first NGO that trained women to climb coconut trees for harvesting coconut. This News has been published in weekly magazines, newspapers, All India Radio, and various TV channels. Recent work ( We have completed on 31.08.2024) We would like to share our honorable work with you all by this letter. SELAVIP, a donor organisation based in Chile is extending their real helping hands to construct forty five houses to the homeless women who are mostly marginalized in the local community and daily wage worker in construction work and scavengers work. With financial assistance of SELAVIP, Chile, Tamil Nadu People Welfare Association has selected 45 homeless women from two villages namely Kongarkulam and Kottai located in Nilakottai Town Panchayat of Nilakottai block of Dindigul District. The total estimate of housing construction USD 1,02,600. SELAVIP Contribution USD 81,000. With SELAVIP valuable financial assistance to construct 45 free houses for 45 selfless service women. ***********
