Mission Statement
PAMENCAP, Karimnagar is one of the four parents associations bearing the same name PAMENCAP in nearest while Andhra Pradesh. PAMENCAP, Karimnagar was started in the month of April 1988. The association has started MANOVIKAS special school for Mentally Handicapped) in July 1988 with only 3 children at the residence of Sri K. Balakishan Rao, Secretary. Dr. K. Menon, the then Director National Institute for Mentally Handicapped (NIMH) Secunderabad, and other staff members have lent all the needed support in formation and registering the association under the A.P. (Telangana)areas Public Societies Registration Act 1350. We seek the technical guidance from present Director and staff of NIMH Secunderabad, who are always ready to help us. They have also visited our school many times during past 34 years for organizing parent work shops and seminars conducted in our school and Karimnagar town.
About This Cause
Parents Association for Mentally Handicapped Persons (PAMENCAP) was formed by group of parents of Karimnagar area in April 1988 with the objective of bringing awareness among parents, siblings and public. The Association was registered in the same year under AP Telangana Area Societies Registration Act 1310 Fasli. Technical guidance was provided by National Institute for Mentally Handicapped NIMH Secunderabad. Our immediate task was starting special school to educate, train and impart, vocational training to the Mentally Challenged persons and to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services such as psychiatry, behavior modification, speech therapy, physiotherapist and medical treatment etc. To establish sheltered workshop, Respite care center & to conduct research and educational programmer in the field of mental retardation. Most of members of our association belong to poor and middle class families. Hence we had to depend on our parent members for voluntary work. Our executive members have worked and we are able constructed two floors of building, maintain the school, arrange 2 vans for transport. We are running Manovikas special school and vocational training center for mentally Handicapped persons at Karimnagar from1988.We are serving these unfortunate people by providing academic training, behavior modification, and Vocational training. Besides serving 76 Children we also train parents in coping up with stress in bringing these children. We have constructed our own building in half acre land given by State Government 10 types of products are produced by our students through VTC We are always trying to increase the school strength by taking new admissions, conducting local survey. Following classes are run regularly. 1. Pre primary sections - 1 2. Primary sections - 1 3. Pre Vocational sections - 2 4. Vocational sections - 3 5. Profoundly retarded - one section (Care group) Adequate teaching staff is available in our school. 27 Qualified experienced staff members providing quality Rehabilitation Training. We have struggled over the years and procured half an acre government land at nominal market value and constructed two floors of school building admeasuring 1210 sq meters. The building comprises of 12 class rooms office room, halls for vocational activity physiotherapy and speech therapy. The Leveling of the ground, completion of compound wall and two floors of new building are completed and all classes, therapy halls are functioning from new building out playing items fixed. We have participated rights movement as we were executive members in confederation of parents association PARIVAAR, New Delhi. Many students after training in our school are leading independent life. Three examples given below: Sri R Satish 25 years age who was trained in our school and VTC is presently working in a coffee shop and earning salary Sri B Sadanandam 35 years is also now leading independent life. His father is a pensioner. Sri Manoj well trained boy in the school has got married and leading a normal life. He is employed in a Medical Shop and earning salary. These examples clearly show that given proper training, special persons also have abilities to make them useful members of the society. More than 18 years old students will be given vocational training in preparation and production of Door Mat’s, Making of Dish wash Powder, Greetings, Masala’s and also packed it. Door Mats made by our school are unique design and lost for long period. We are awareness programs, medical camps for the parents of mentally handicapped persons. We conducted district level sports and games meant by many times. Dance Teacher is also available to learn dance to all students. Our dance teacher and practiced in our school children. We have attended many cultural programs in the district and Hyderabad also.
