We aspire to impact 20 million girls and women in India by 2040, prioritizing those from historically disadvantaged communities. About This Cause

Centre for Knowledge & Development (CKD) aims to improve the lives of women, adolescents, and children, wherein they become the owners, planners, and decision-makers in the systems that govern their lives. With a commitment to leave no one behind, values of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are the overarching principles which ties our actions to our goal. A women-led organisation, we look at developmental challenges through a gendered lens and turn them into opportunities for transformation. We address harmful social hierarchies and norms, reworking the 'one size fits all' way of implementing development programs. As India strives to reap its 'demographic dividend' and accelerate its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement, it becomes imperative to empower women, children, and adolescents. The inequities they face are manifested in the fields of education, nutrition, livelihoods and employment, and access to 21st-century skills. CKD is working in these domains to drive change. For us, the pathway to success encompasses – building consensus, improving access, and sustaining empathic behaviours. Insights from our collaborative research, dialogue with key stakeholders, and the team's combined wisdom influence approach, work areas, and motivation. We aspire to work on new-age skills, green jobs, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), nutrition, WASH, education with capacity building, techno-managerial support, knowledge creation as strategic interventions cutting across these domains. We design and implement innovative solutions to resolve development challenges at the national and sub-national levels. Together with research and strategic engagements, we leverage the experience of eminent knowledge leaders for capacity building and knowledge products. We converge on prioritising women, adolescents, and children’s concerns among elected representatives and strive for greater public funding for them in the coming years. We work closely with governments, stakeholders and communities other stakeholders to sustain and amplify impact. The world faces an unprecedented health crisis that has intensified uncertainties. It has enhanced the marginalisation of historically disadvantaged groups. We believe that leveraging the collective experience of diverse, yet mission-aligned partners and creating purpose-driven collaborations with governments, multilateral agencies, civil society, and the private sector is critical as India recovers from the COVID 19 induced losses. We at CKD relentlessly serve communities to brave challenges and create tangible changes for a sustainable future.
