Mission Statement
We as Peepul, want to help transform the education system that serves the poorest of the poor, i.e. the government education system, so that every child in this segment can have an education system that helps him/her realize his/her potential.
About This Cause
Peepul is a non-profit organisation that aims to transform children’s lives through quality education. Our Approach: We partner with local and state governments to transform schools and school systems. We work both across the micro and the macro- we run exemplar schools and also work on syetemic transformation at scale. Our Philosophy: Our Philosophy is to Supplement and not substitute the government system. We believe that improvement in learning outcomes in government schools at scale, can be done by reform and improvement of the government system itself, through enabling and capacity building the government machinery to implement these changes. We seek to do this, through running transformative education programmes in partnership with governments. Our Programmes Micro Level: 1. Running exemplar partnership schools: We are running three exemplar partnership schools with 1000+ students, to showcase the excellence possible within the government set up. We take full ownership of student ‘attendance to attainment’. These schools have comparable cost-per-child as typical government school. These schools are also R&D hub for innovative practices. Macro Level 2. Teacher Training in Delhi: We conduct in-service training and coaching for 450 teachers in South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), across 100+ schools. Our work intends to influence and impact education policy and reform, by demonstrating best practices that are replicable and scalable in the Indian context 3. State-wide education transformation in Madhya Pradesh: The vision is that Madhya Pradesh primary schools should become exemplar schools in the government system, outperforming elite private schools in student performance, teacher motivation and overall outcomes. 4. Codification: We are also Codifying and documenting our practice, innovative content, pedagogy and processes for managing scale without dilution of quality.
