Mission Statement
Mission of Taleem 'Taleem' is registered as a society since 2012 with the aim of empowering children and youth of economically weaker sections, through relevant and career oriented education using modern teaching concepts and technical assistance. Setup with a Vision of ‘KG to PG’, Taleem provides Education to the Underprivileged children with aim of getting them employable and empowering them to lead a dignified Life Independently. Key Focus Areas at Taleem are Education of Girl Child Women Empowerment Providing Quality Primary Education at Beginner Level ensuring that the children are enrolled into formal school education and preventing dropouts Competence and Career Building Vocational Training Health Related Awareness Green Planet Renewable and Clean Energy Work during Pandemic, disasters, emergencies and support to Government and its agencies Taleem supports the cause of empowering children from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, OBC categories, people with special abilities, orphans and elderly citizen and helps people suffering due to natural disasters, Citizens in distress due to natural, economic, geographical or environmental issues.
About This Cause
Taleem is running educational activities in the most backward areas (rag pickers slums) in and around Delhi NCR, parts of Eastern and Western UP. The children are first generation of learners, extremely malnourished and have no support from the family and surrounding due to poor economic conditions. The families live in extreme unhygienic living conditions. Taleem develops and runs the learning centers in the same locality and works on education, nutrition, sanitation and health of the children and push them into formal education system along with preventing the drop outs. Taleem creates an ecosystem for 1) Easy and productive learning 2) Attracting children to take up the academic path for sustained development 3)Promoting mental health and emotional development Social Impacts noted are: Bringing marginalized children into education system Increasing enrollment in formal education Decreasing dropout rate Reduce child labor, gender biasing and social unrest Giving relief to families suffered due to pandemic Increasing awareness towards sanitation, health, hygiene Increasing awareness towards vaccination Promoting social inclusiveness Provision of one meal daily and monthly hygiene and educational kit motivates children to join the academic activities. Children have been found to enjoy learning instead of earning. The social and gender biasing has been found to reduce. Taleem is getting positive response towards personal hygiene, environment ,cultural and national harmony from the children and their families. Taleem organises health check up camps, provides educational sessions on fundamental rights and duties, Government welfare schemes apart from taking care of monthly hygiene of girls/ females in the family of student. Taleem believes in sustainability through education. We introduce computer classes to grown up children, teach them MS-word, excel, power point and Tally to enhance their job prospects. For the adult girls who have not been part of education system , Taleem provides them vocational training like Sewing/Stitching/Tailoring/Beauty courses etc to help them improve economic condition and have better say and authority in their personal and daily life. Developing clean and safe educational set ups in the slum locality also offers children and girls a much needed space to interact, play and eat which is not possible in their one single room living quarter filled with 5 to 8 family members. Every metropolitan city, tier B and tier C city are loaded with such slum clusters mostly comprising of Migrant population. They live in most pathetic conditions and try to survive on minimum availability of resources. Education is the last topic in the survival list, hunger dictates the daily work. Children are exposed to all the anti social and anti human activities and are easy fodder to organised crime groups. Proper education, sensitive handling of childhood and right approach can develop these children into productive and contributing human beings. TALEEM is just doing the same.
