About This Cause

GRACE Cancer Foundation (Global Research and Cancer Education) is a non-profit organization registered under section 25(1) of the company's act of India. Introduction to Grace Foundation. The Grace Cancer Foundation in the small span of 6 years had a significant impact on society. It started as a small initiative with the founders' own funds and funds collected from a few noble souls. Today it is backed by more than 3000+ active volunteers with a global reach in 5 continents and 10 countries. We have touched more than 6 million citizens through more than 850 cancer awareness/screening camps. The foundation realizes its goals through 4 Pillars: 1. Cancer Prevention: It focuses on awareness building, media campaigns, counselling for lifestyle modification. The latest initiative is the Grace Cancer Run 2020. This is the third edition of this event. 2. Early Detection: Mobile Units and Volunteers bring this facility to underserved areas. A bus is fully equipped with diagnostic equipment, including X-Ray machine, ultra sound machine, path lab., private facility for collecting pap smears and a space for tele-consulting. This the Mobile Cancer Detection Unit that goes to villages and slums and enables detection of Non Communicable Diseases, including cancer, at the doorstep of the affected population. 3. Treatment: The foundation refers the screened patients to network hospitals with government insurance. 4. Research and Development: Clinsync is the CRO within which the Research activities for cancer cure are undertaken. Goals of Grace Foundation (FY 2020-21): 1.Early detection camps for 100,000 people. 2. Reduce the cost of screening from Rs. 800 to Rs. 600 using A.I. and Telemedicine. 3. Reach 1,000,000 people especially in India and Africa through the Global Cancer Run. 4. Lifestyle coach - counselling to change dangerous habits, especially sedentary lifestyles and consumption of tobacco products. Impact: Grace Foundation has been able to have a significant impact on the lives of people in India and abroad. A short summary of the reach and impact of the work of the foundation is given below: 1. Breast Cancer: 550 cases detected 2. Cervical Cancer: 450 risk groups detected 3. New Diabetes: 12% of screened population 4.New Hypertensives: 13% of screened population Case Study 1: Breast Cancer, Community Camp, Guntur, 20.02.2016 Objective: The objective of the program was to determine the effectiveness of a planned teaching program among rural women on breast cancer. Results: BSE was successfully done by 2790 participants out of which 320 participants reported to have found lump or other abnormalities. Upon physician’s examination, hundred suspected participants were referred for mammographic evaluation at the mobile cancer detection van stationed at the venue and malignancies were detected in 30 participants. This was recognized by the Guinness world records as the largest simultaneous self breast examination for screening of breast cancer. Case Study 2: Oral Cancer, Balaji Gardens, Mahabubabad, 03.02.2019 Objective: Awareness of Oral Hygiene and the ill effects of Tobacco as a cause of Oral Cancer. The Oral cancer awareness was done by means of an Oral Hygiene lesson, which was conducted for 4578 participants. 25 new cases of cancer were detected. In addition, 255 cases for Hepatitis B, 267 cases for Hepatitis C, 258 cases for diabetes and 245 new cases for hypertension. Hundreds have committed to change in lifestyle including cessation of tobacco and alcohol. This was recognized by the Guinness world records as the largest simultaneous Oral hygiene lesson for screening of Oral cancer. Case Study 3:Cervical Cancer,Community Camp, Guntur, 20.02.2016 Objective: Training of para medical staff and education of women on genital hygiene Pap smears were successfully done by 1270 participants, 32 participants reported to have abnormalities and found to be harbouring cervical cancer. More than 300 women had poor genital hygiene and had multiple infections. This was recognized by the Limca world records as the largest simultaneous screening of cervical cancer. The Foundation has also been granted the ISO 2009 certification for the systems and processes in Cancer Screening.
