Mission Statement
Uma Educational & Technical Society is dedicated to empowering Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) by fostering an inclusive, barrier-free, and rights-based society. We aim to provide exceptional special education, rehabilitation, and vocational training to enable holistic development and livelihood opportunities. Through innovative programs in health, education, livelihood, and social empowerment, we strive to nurture individuals' potential while developing skilled professionals in the field of disability rehabilitation. With unwavering commitment and a clear vision, we are devoted to enhancing the quality of life for all differently-abled individuals and their families
About This Cause
Our organization is dedicated to delivering essential welfare services to individuals below the poverty line residing in rural and urban areas. We operate special schools, homes, and sub-centers that focus on the education, welfare, and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. Additionally, we undertake various activities aimed at empowering these individuals and economically disadvantaged populations by facilitating the formation of support groups and societies. We are committed to organizing special camps in rural and urban areas, emphasizing early identification and intervention to address community development issues and promote the welfare and rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities and those living below the poverty line. Advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities and marginalized groups is a cornerstone of our mission, as is the promotion of intellectual, social, economic, and cultural development for all, including individuals with disabilities of all ages. Through humanitarian assistance, we extend our support to men, women, and children in need and distress, regardless of their caste, creed, color, religion, or race. Our initiatives aim to alleviate the mental and physical challenges experienced by persons with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups. To further support these efforts, we operate workshops for the fabrication and fitting of aids and appliances, sourcing hearing aids and other assistive devices from donors for free distribution. Health awareness is another key area of focus, with programs designed to raise awareness about sexual health and provide targeted interventions for HIV/AIDS prevention. We also offer vocational training programs for school dropouts and unemployed youth, enhancing their employability and career prospects. In tandem with this, we implement income-generating initiatives for persons with disabilities and their families, fostering economic independence and encouraging the formation of self-help groups. We also design and implement community-based rehabilitation programs tailored to meet the unique needs of persons with disabilities. To ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of our programs, we secure financial support from government agencies and donors, enabling us to achieve our objectives and expand our impact.
