Mission Statement
Help in Suffering provides care, comfort, compassion, and quality veterinary care to animals in need. Our efforts are also towards ensuring a rabies free Jaipur. We seek to engage the hearts, hands, and minds of the community to help bring about an end to the suffering of abandoned and free-roaming animals. We work towards rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need.
About This Cause
Help in Suffering (HIS), is a four-decade-old animal welfare organization based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India . Dedicated to providing essential rescue services, animal birth control, medical care, community outreach, and advocacy for animals in need. Our Core Initiatives – Rescue Operations of HIS - For over 43 years, HIS has been tirelessly rescuing and rehabilitating abused, injured, and neglected animals. With a staggering track record of treating over 1 million animals, including 400 currently under our care in Jaipur, we respond to nearly 100 calls daily. Our dedicated teams handle diverse cases, ranging from accidents to animals trapped in wells, rescuing and treating over 10,000 animals annually. Animal Birth Control & Immunization- Animal Birth Control & Immunization: HIS spearheads the Animal Birth Control & Immunization Program in Jaipur, successfully combating rabies, which claims approximately 25,000 human lives annually in India. Through humane methods like vaccination and sterilization, we have sterilized over 150,000 dogs since 1994, significantly reducing human rabies cases and dog-bite injuries. Every year we neuter and vaccinate 3500 dogs. The Camel Welfare Programme- Our comprehensive initiative addresses the medical needs of working camels and their owners in Jaipur and surrounding rural areas. From treating sick and injured camels to educating owners on husbandry practices and enhancing cart visibility to reduce accidents, our veterinary team works tirelessly. In 2011, we established the Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) in Bassi, equipped with facilities for long-term care overseen by a resident veterinary surgeon. Every year we treat 5000 camels.
