Our focus areas of work are Child education, care and protection, women empowerment and livelihood development, Water, sanitation and solid waste management, Community health and Disaster management. Legal Status: • Registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act-XXVII of 1961, Reg No: SO024043 dated 12th February, 1979. • Registered under FCRA Act. Registration No- 147110596 dated 29th January 2003. • Registered under u/s 12 A of the I.T Act, 1961.Registration No: AAAJD0338CE20214 dated 28.05.2021. • Exempted u/s 80G (VI) of the I.T Act, 1961. Vision of the Organization: Visualized an egalitarian society where people irrespective of caste, creed & religion can enjoy their basic human rights with equal access to resources for quality in life and livelihood. Mission of the Organization: Strengthen the empowerment process of the most vulnerable women and children, so that they can realize and protect their basic human rights. Major Objectives: o To reach out poorest and underprivileged section of society for self- reliance; o To stop discriminating factor based on caste, creed, sex, clan and colour; o To create strong awareness among the local people to solve their local problems through ensuring local resource mobilization; o To emphasis on women and child development programmes and women empowerment; o To empower marginalized communities through economic and social development; o To build capacities among marginalized farm families to enhance income and employment through adaptation of better technologies, inputs flow and marketing development. o To establish and running Homes as Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), home for CNCP, CWSN, Shakti Sadan Home, cottage home for destitute children and Drug De addiction Centre; Thematic areas of Intervention:  Child education, care & protection care,  Community health programme  Women empowerment & Livelihood Development  Water, Sanitation & solid waste management  Disaster Management through Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) Major activities: Child Care and Protection: • Runs residential shelter homes for over 500 children annually, including those in need of care and protection (CNPC) and children with special needs (CWSN). • Operates a residential shelter for vulnerable and destitute girl children under the Cottage Scheme. • Manages a Specialized Adoption Centre (SAA) for abandoned new-born babies. Shelter home for vulnerable people: • Operates SHAKTI SADAN, a shelter home for women aged 18 to 60 who are victims of social and economic marginalization, in partnership with Mission Shakti and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. • Runs a Shelter Home under ASHRAY for urban homeless people including both women and men to ensure a comfortable living experience • Running Senior Citizen Home under (AVYAY) to the 25 elderly women by arranging shelter, food, healthcare and recreational amenities. Child Rights and Protection: • Promotes child rights and strengthens child protection mechanisms to combat child marriage, trafficking, sexual abuse, and child labor in 200 vulnerable villages across 7 blocks in South 24 Parganas under the Access to Justice Programme. Child Education: • Runs four crèches serving over 100 children of working mothers aged 3-6 under the National Crèche Scheme. • Operates four Pre-Primary Education Support Centres for 270 vulnerable children, primarily first-generation learners. • Manages Angikar Kishalay Niketan, a primary school providing value-based education to 160 less privileged children in the remote areas of the Sundarbans. Health and Well-being: • Implements a Targeted Intervention Project for Commercial Sex Workers and the TG/ MSM community in South and North 24 Parganas, focusing on STIs and HIV detection and treatment and promoting safe sex practices. • Runs a Waiting Hut Programme for pregnant mothers in the Sundarbans to reduce child mortality by providing closer access to health centers. Livelihood Development: • Promotes sustainable livelihood opportunities for TCW families, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes through climate-resilient practices in agriculture, fishery, and livestock management, with a focus on poultry and goat farming. • Focuses on improving rural incomes through modern bio-farming practices, soil conservation, livestock and animal husbandry development, and sustainable market linkages. Water, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management: • Digambarpur Angikar built water tank and established a pipeline system to supply safe drinking water to 720 households, managed by a community-led Water User Committee (WUC). • As partner of Nirmal Bangla, the organization supports Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) by conducting community awareness campaigns, building and monitoring household toilets, educating on night soil usage, building toilet blocks in schools and promoting water supply in them. • As a Micro Planning Associate Organization with the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), Digambarpur Angikar prepared Solid Waste Management-Detailed Project Reports (SWM-DPR) for 29 municipal towns in West Bengal reaching over 5 million urban residents in 565 municipal wards.
