About This Cause
Founded in 2013, Indus Action is one of India’s pre-eminent non-governmental organizations focused on access to legislated rights for vulnerable families. A policy implementation do-tank, it seeks to identify wide gaps existing between law and action, mobilize public resources, and empower communities. Its work is targeted towards foundational social SDGs (end poverty and hunger, ensure health, education, and gender equality), which hold the key to sustainable development and impact on the economy. Indus Action strives to equip citizens with the tools and information to leverage a multitude of welfare programs that aid them in building assets and increasing their resilience against poverty. It works with governments to ensure entitlements are delivered in a fair, transparent, efficient, and equitable manner. Over the past 8 years, Indus Action has been working towards systematic investment in education, health, and livelihood in 19 Indian states, with the goal of irreversibly ending poverty in India. Its 2025 vision is to enable 1 million+ vulnerable families to access a portfolio/ pool of rights which places them on a path out of poverty, and in so doing, facilitates their practice of citizenship.
