About This Cause

Pratigya is Jharkhand based youth initiative to ensure access of quality education to every child and mobilize youth to action. It was started in 2007 by a group of committed youth who strongly believe that change is possible only through Education. It has several grassroots initiatives and community based programs both in urban and rural areas of Jharkhand along with policy level advocacy on issues of Education, Child protection & participation and Youth development. Its initiatives in education with underprivileged children includes sponsorship of school education, special focus on girls’ education, life skills center, budget school and children health-finance-sports cooperative. It has also run state-wide advocacy and campaigns for Child Trafficking Free India in Jharkhand. Engagements with youth include programmes for sensitisation, civic-constitutional education and leadership development thereby enabling them to become agents of change in the society. Pratigya believes that contextualized life skills training can help children to develop socio, ethical, emotional and financial skills. Developing this aspect of children results in transforming them as leaders of change. It has been running life skill training for underprivileged in urban slums of Ranchi District and rural areas of Khunti District for over a decade under its programme namely Srijan Bachpan - nurturing childhood. Over 8,700 children have been trained so far with a life changing impact on them. Pratigya has been piloting Life skills in private and public schools as well. Due to having 4 important SDGs integrated in it, “Srijan Bachpan” has been selected and featured in globally top 25 Non-Profit Sustainable Solutions (only solution selected from Asia) in “Youth Solutions Report 2019” by Sustainable Development Solutions Network- Youth of United Nations out of 4300 solutions submitted from 174 countries.
