Mission Statement
To carry out policy analysis from multi-stakeholder and multidisciplinary perspectives for decision-makers and vulnerable groups in thematic areas of climate change and environment; energy and power systems; sustainable urban development; agriculture and food security; poverty alleviation and gender. Using policy research and analysis, consensus building and dialogues, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation.
About This Cause
IRADe focuses on the poor, especially women while discussing energy, environment, climate change, cities, or agriculture. In the energy sector, IRADe is advocating that more attention should be given to the non-commercial energy sector (fuel-wood) managed by women, providing 27 percent of national energy. Currently, sustainable energy for all (SE 4 all) is one of the high profile initiatives of the UN and others. In the last few years, IRADe has undertaken various research studies in this sector to address this burning issue and organized or participated in conferences. IRADe is a Centre of Excellence on Urban Development and Climate Change and carries out projects in the areas of Urban Environment and Development and Climate Change. Besides IRADe, MoUD identified a few other reputed institutes from all over India to undertake research and other activities in the areas related to urban development. IRADe’s approach as the Centre of Excellence is broadly based on three focus areas: Research, Knowledge Dissemination, and Capacity Building. The research programs of IRADe include policy analysis, case studies, and dissemination and assists MoUD with activities related to the National Mission for Sustainable Habitat (NMSH). The staff participates in the meetings of subcommittees on stormwater drainage for developing benchmarks for preparedness for disasters.
