About This Cause
Devnar Foundation for the Blind is started in 1991-92. It is a NGO and Founder Chairman is Dr. A. Saibaba Goud,Padmashree Awardee, retired Superindent from Sarojini Devi Eye hospital. School is started with 4 Blind children and Devnar School for the Blind is the Countries first English medium School for the Blind. Devnar foundation for the Blind is a non - Commercial voluntary organization involved in education and rehabilitation of visually challenged. We have 550 Blind children in the school, the biggest in the World. We are providing free food, accommodation, education, uniforms, shoes, Braille books etc irrespective of caste, religion and any other factor. Now our Devnar School for the Blind is the biggest English medium school for the Blind in the World. We are giving free education from LKG to Class XII. We have special dormitory facilities for boys and girls. With the support of various donors we are running this successfully. Our School is adjudged as the Best Institution in the country, on 3rd December 2002, and on 3rd December 2008 President of India gave this award. Some of our students are employed in State Government., Central Government, Private. Now they are living self esteem supporting their families and contributing to the economy of the Country by paying tax. Some of our students are also pursuing higher education in Hyderabad central University, JNU, New Delhi, TATA Institute Bombay, Osmania University and JNTU, Hyderabad (Engineering Courses) and doing CA. Most of our students are from rural background and from very poor background. One of our student Manasa (Class X) in 2017 has been won the National Children ScienceCongress award. First time in India from one school 41 Visually challenged students appeared for Class X board exams in 2018 March and all are completed with above 7.5/10 GPA and more than 10 students got 10/10 in English, Mathematics and Science subjects.
