About This Cause

CASA is a 75 years old humanitarian and development organization established in 1947 to serve the needs of the victims of violence and displacement during the Indo-Pak partition. Since then, the organisation has been continuously serving people of all faiths or no faith, geographies and ethnicities in India by responding to their humanitarian and development needs. Unconditional love, care and compassion is the basic premise to serve the vulnerable people so that they may have life in all its fullness and in peace and harmony with nature We have successfully completed 75 years of journey, and we will continue to walk extra-mile for the poorest of the poor in our country. CASA has been constantly redefining its approach in the ever-changing context to serve people better. Our projects on Skill Training, livelihood, education, health, Women Empowerment, Climate Change and humanitarian work cater to the needs of the socially and economically marginalised sections in the development process. The National Council of Churches in India formed the NCC Reset Committee on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's request to his close friend Bishop Picket to initiate a response from the Indian Protestant and Orthodox Churches during the flood and famines immediately after India received its indepedence. Today 'NCC Relief Committee' now known as CASA, is a premiere relief and development organisation in the country. The continued growth of CASA over more than five decades now is an indication of its acceptability and social relevance. Its ability to analyse and respond to the changing socio-economic-political realities in its struggle with the poor and the marginalised for their emancipation and empowerment have stood it in good stead. CASA is today operational in almost all States and Union Territories of India through its 4 Zonal and 14 Sector offices having a working strength of more than 700 people. Headed by its Director, the organisation is managed by the Executive, Personnel and Finance Committees under the policy direction of the National Board constituted by representatives of 24 Protestant and Orthodox Churches with eminent persons from related fields as nominated members.
