The concept is to provide holistic education to the children hailing from rural and forest villages by a well-trained teacher (preferably a young woman of the same village). The curriculum includes not only basic literacy, arithmetic, science and languages but also includes topics on health and hygiene, physical activities and yoga and introduction to local skills. The starting point in Ekal Model is Ekal Vidyalaya, run in remote rural and tribal villages which have remained deprived mostly due to their location disadvantage.
About This Cause
Engaged in to help, aid, assist, undertake, operate, organize, establish, maintain and run One Teacher Schools imparting informal education, Schools for physically challenged persons, Primary Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, colleges, Universities, Vocational Institutions, for imparting general, vocational, industrial, technical, physical, mental , moral education and to promote for the advancement of education art, science and health in India including deprived villages and towns (e. g. tribal villages/towns in hilly areas and in border areas).
To maintain, contribute or to give aid to any medical, educational or social institution or charitable institution with a philanthropic purpose which may be in the general interest of poor of all classes and creeds, and to do all such acts and things with the object of giving relief to the poor.
To do all such acts and things as may be conducive to the general well being of the Trust and upliftment of the social, educational, cultural or economical conditions of the masses. Running more that 27,000 One Teacher Schools (informal) in deep, tribal & remote rural areas of Bharat.
