About This Cause

With the second wave of COVID 19 intensifying in India, Oxfam has started its response, reaching out to the most affected and vulnerable communities and will be working in 17 states of India. Oxfam India received requests from the officials from the government health departments to provide supports for ‘Medical Equipment & Accessories’ and materials that includes Hospital beds, Coir Mattresses, PPE Kits, Sanitiser, Hand Gloves etc. HOW IS OXFAM INDIA HELPING OVERCOME THE CRISIS: We are distributing and installing medical equipment and accessories such as Oxygen Cylinders with Oxygen Flow Meter Regulator with Humidifier, Oxygen Nasal Mask, Multi Parameter Patient Monitor and other items, at government institutions - hospitals/health centres, at Covid 19 isolation centres at District and community level.We are distributing PPE kits and safety kits to frontline health workers and community. We are going open COVID CARE CENTRES We are reaching out with food to the stranded workers and to the most marginalised and vulnerable communities. We will make direct cash transfers to the most marginalised households, especially women-led ones to pay for their immediate needs or establish small businesses. We will impart skill-based, livelihood training for women and self-help groups to help them generate income. Oxfam India need your support to provide access to emergency Healthcare and Food & Livelihood security for the vulnerable. In 2020 Oxfam India started its response immediately, More than, 4,43,575 people from the poorest households have been supported with dry food ration kits and safety kits in 16 states of the country. 60080 packets of ready to eat cooked meals have been distributed to migrants who were on the National and State highways of the country. 67560 safety kits and have been distributed for frontline workers including doctors, nurses, hospital staff, police stations and other support staff. 8426 PPE kits to government hospitals and state health departments. Unconditional Cash Transfers were made to 9481 households with emphasis on most marginalised, single women or women led households, and persons with disabilities. Worked with 81 women Self Help Groups, reached over 1000 women, trained and supported in generating alternative sources of income. We campaign with the public to demand policy changes from governments for creating a just and inclusive country as envisioned in the Indian Constitution. We mobilize support to save, protect and rebuild lives of the poorest of poor affected by crisis and humanitarian disasters.
